My 16 foot garage door has had it?
It had buckled in the middle, was patched up and now my handyman says he cant fix it. The center of it is sagging about 3 inches in the middle and causing one wheel to pop off every time I open or close it.
Called one place that sells Wayne Dalton doors and they quoted me $756 and $945, the higher price being for the insulated model.
Its a 7 foot door.
The man says, over the phone that theres a small chance they can repair it for $85-90, they can replace the top portion of the door and fix the problem for $300 or I can go with a new door.
Need advise.
Is the insulation worth it for $189 extra ?
I have nothing above the garage except Attic but it lead into my kitchen. I live in Bham,AL.
I havent checked anywhere else for prices.
The $756 & $945 include taxes.
Its NOT a sandwhich door.
If it's that bad, I wouldn't recommend putting any more money into it. Replace the door. It's usually recommended to use an insulated door when the garage is attached to the house. It usually helps keep the heat and humidity out in summer, and cold air out in winter (especially here in Chicago).
If the $945 is for a double steel "sandwich" door, it's worth the price difference. In addition to insulating value, it is also a heavier-duty door, and less prone to denting and flexing over time.
