Mustang bait and switch?

Funny thing, so I take a trip by plane out of town for the weekend. Beforehand, I had rented a Mustang to pick up at the airport from a well known car rental company that advertises them publicly-but the ad said "Mustang or equivalent". Well, of course I get there and of course there is no equivalent for that price-no Mustang, T-Bird, or any other two-door car, but there was a convertible Mustang-great exactly as expected except much more than the price advertised. It was either that or something like a Neon, etc. (of course for cheaper). Anyways, it was a great trip and I loved the convertible, but its upsetting that they do this with cars that are in demand. If I do this again with any specialty car, I will call ahead and make sure one will be available! Has anyone else encountered this?

Ever watched an ad on tv for some big truck sale and go to check on the truck's.Once you get there the $18,000.00
trucks are are sold. In the small print on tv it tells you there is only one truck at that price. The truck never even existed. It's is a sales pitch.
